La Mariposa Tango Part of the Bath Music Festival lineup at Invention

On the 31st, the Bath Music Festival's Late Night series presents the smouldering tango duo La Mariposa Tango from Buenos Aires, in a cabinet-style show presented and recorded by BBC Radio 3.

The Barcelona-based pair define themselves as true ‘tangueras’, yet oppose the orthodoxy of the tango, instead investigating new and breathtaking dance styles and incorporating them into their performance. The charismatic singer and dancer Laura Hansen and the multi-instrumentalist Carlos Morera view their dancing as genuine performance art - examining the poetic history of the bandoneón through their reinterpretation of the classic music of Carlos Gardel, Horacio Ferrer, Astor Piazzolla and others. Their music resonates with the themes of love, solitude, city life and exile, exemplifying the true spirit of tango and making for a pulse-elevating musical experience.

Doors open at 9.00pm sharp, with tickets available via the Bath Music Festival site. Tickets cost £10, with normal concessions available.
