Port Erin - 'THE DEADS' E.P. Launch Party

Port Erin A Thrice Nipple Production

Port Erin is one of the most exciting up-and-coming alternative rock bands on the thriving Bath and Bristol music scene, and on Friday 16th they'll be performing live at Invention to celebrate the launch of their limited edition E.P. "THE DEADS."

"...festival goers were rewarded for their dogged determination by some of the weekend's finest acts ... an invigorating set by Broughton Gifford's Port Erin, led by wild (yet strangely refined) frontman Reuben Tyghe had them rocking. Great!"

- Jim Marshall, BBC Wiltshire, Trowbridge Village Pump Festival 2007

Port Erin's three members grew up, live, and write together in the small village of Broughton Gifford in Wiltshire. Citing influences as far-flung as Sting, The Roots, and Leonard Cohen, Port Erin are rapidly building a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the South-West. Since forming in March 2007 the talented trio have already completed over 100 shows, including a 50-date UK tour, two sold-out shows in Bath, and headline slots at infamous London venues including the 100 Club and 333. They'll be hitting the road in May to promote "THE DEADS" (with their debut album due for release in September).

Fronted by left-handed guitar maestro Reuben Tyghe and supported by the soaring bass and virtuoso percussion of Jacob Tyghe and Carys Brocklehurst respectively, the band's style combines elements of alternative, soul, and rock to create a rhythmic, swing-influenced sound with great dance vibes. The band's immaculate showmanship has gained them critical kudos, as well as taking them to the finals of Moles' March 2007 Battle Of The Bands - with official observer Ed Hutchinson declaring them "the most original band of the night ... great use of effects, atmosphere and energy. It’s hard to actually put them under a genre heading other than alternative, which is great because it means they have their own thing going on. Experimental and interesting."

As if that's not enough, Port Erin will be supported on the night by three other very special guests - award-winning acoustic country/alternative quartet The Doubtful Guest, psychedelic masters of pop-punk The Transpersonals, and bluegrass/ska-influenced hoedown maestros the Boot-Hill All Stars. Doors open at 7.30pm, with tickets just £5 at the door. The performances start at 8.00pm sharp, so be sure to get in early!
