Invention Live - Battlewitch, Once Under, Set Phasers To Stun

Set Phasers To Stun AMO Presents Invention Live

Like you, we love to see top-quality music performed live by talented local artists... We also like to see the best up-and-coming bands from the thriving Bath and Bristol music scene given a venue to play and a chance to showcase their skills in front of an audience. That's why we're opening our doors to the public in a series of semi-regular music nights and bringing in what we think are some of the more exciting bands in the area under the Invention Live banner - featuring great live music with a relaxed atmosphere. Keep an eye on our What's On section to keep up to date with all our upcoming Invention Live events!

On the 22nd, Invention Live will showcase three very different bands from the alternative/punk scene. All three groups have established a reputation for immaculate showmanship and should make for a gripping musical experience:

A bewitching fusion of classic rock, metal, and punk, Battlewitch is a Wiltshire-based four-man percussive onslaught drawing inspiration from early Iron Maiden, Dio, and Ozzy Osbourne. Featuring energetic vocals and a groovy baseline, the band is currently recording new material for their latest release, and have made all tracks from their last two EPs available online at battlewitch.co.uk. Praise for Battlewitch:

"(Battlewitch is) unabashedly old school metal! Coming on like the best bits of every worthwhile New Wave of British Heavy Metal band ever, Battlewitch rock..."

- Ninehertz

"Succulent and juicy bass lines support rich gravy guitar solos, with drum patterns that thunder so much you can hear the horses galloping ... Excellent."

- Die Shellsuit, Die - 9/10

"This sounds like it should be a gloriously obscure seven inch on Neat Records. Proper classic real metal, real NWOBHM done authentically right. Spot on in every way"

- ORGAN

Once Under have forged a career out of quality live performances, playing widely received shows across the country for the last four years. Garnering praise from Glastonbury supremo Michael Eavis and NME editor Conor McNicholas, amongst others, the band has played alongside chart-toppers like El Presidente and Massive Attack, and recently reached the finals of two different Battle Of The Bands concurrently. Once Under blend rock, alternative, and punk to produce catchy songs with clever hooks and a pulse-elevating live presence. The band is launching a whistle-stop tour of the UK (pausing for five days in South Wales to record their new EP), accompanied by a massive promotion blitz. With the Once Under brand rising so fast, this is a great opportunity to see the band before they become massive.

Last but by no means least, Set Phasers To Stun (formerly The Awful Truth) are a hard-hitting, melodic, punk-edged metalcore band with stunning riffs and a powerful bass line. Mark Eden provides raw, searing vocals, with Leon Millard providing intense percussion. After a gap of 6 months, the band is back with new guitarist Ryan Millard in tow, and armed with a portfolio of completely new material; including a sneak peak at a possible upcoming album.

Admission will cost just £5.00 at the door, with a special concession price for students. Live performances will start at 8.30pm sharp, so be sure to get in early!
