On 3rd June only, Invention Studios is once again proud to present the immensely talented Seckou Keita SKQ (formerly the Seckou Keita Quartet).



Hailing from Senegal, Italy, Egypt and Gambia, this multinational fivesome represents one of the fastest growing independent bands out there, captivating audiences from Montreal to Manchester, Sweden to Senegal.



Counting Richard Bona, Bela Fleck and Bobby McFerrin amongst his influences, Seckou Keita leads the quartet with his experimental tunings and virtuoso performances on the kora (a West African stringed instrument). His charismatic personality is communicated through his unique improvisational style, supported by the double bass/electric bass of Davide Mantovani, the eclectic percussion of Surahata Susso, the distinguished sound of the violin as played by Samy Bishai and the enchanting voice of newest addition Binta Susso.

The band have recently announced the release of their new studio album “The Silimbo Passage,” alongside an extensive UK tour kicking off in May. The tour will showcase the ongoing evolution of their unique sound – their forthcoming album is already garnering international attention, earning them an honourable mention in the Instrumental category at the International Songwriting Competition. The Seckou Keita SKQ possess a unique ability to touch everyone who experiences their captivating contemporary sound – it’s easy to see how they are amassing fans worldwide.



SKQ are dedicated to championing eco-friendliness through CO2 Balance UK, minimising their carbon emissions, and producing all their promotional material on recycled paper or paper from sustainable forestry. By offsetting emissions from their global travels, the band has been able to donate money towards East Africa Energy Efficiency and contribute to tree planting in the UK.



Tickets on the 3rd are £12.00 at the door, with the performance itself starting at 8:30pm sharp, so don't miss out! Doors will be open from 7:30.
